Direct Seed

Direct seed and no-till are a set of innovative farming practices designed to increase the amount of time that farmland has vegetative cover and to reduce the amount of soil disturbance, while still producing crops. These methods have been shown to be very effective in reducing the amount of sediment introduced into salmonid bearing streams. Minimum tillage farming involves limited disturbance of the soil, but uses tillage equipment that leaves much of the vegetative cover or crop residue on the surface.
